Richmond Area Chapter Conference 

We are pleased to share that our Richmond Area Chapter will host a Conference on December 2, 2025 at the Libbie Mill Library (2100 Libbie Lake E St., Richmond 23230). Please join us to welcome Dr. Heidi Anne Mesmer sponsored by Scholastic. Dr. Mesmer is a professor and program leader for the Reading Specialist program at Virginia Tech. Additionally, she has authored several books to include: Letter Lessons and First Words: Phonics Foundations that Work (Heinemann, 2019), Alphabetics for Emerging Learners: Building Strong Reading Foundations in PreK (2021). Teaching skills for complex text: Deepening reading in the classroom (Teachers College Press, 2016). Dr. Mesmer will share her information and research focusing on "Reading Science 2.0: New Findings for K-5". Brain Balance will also share research and information centered on overall brain health, plasticity, and development as it can relate to instructional practices in the classroom.
